Introduction, by Liam Murray Bell

For my editorial project on the MLitt course, I ran a Creative Writing workshop with Advanced Higher pupils at Hyndland Secondary School. I’m pleased to introduce a selection of writing from two of the pupils from that class: Hannah MacDonald and Josh Graham.
        The workshop group, for me, was characterised by a witty and refreshingly lively approach to writing. The following pieces by Hannah and Josh, entitled ‘The Last Man’ and ‘Man, man’ respectively, reflect the engaging characters and detailed descriptions that were on show from the class as a whole. I hope you enjoy reading, as I did, the chilling account of an American prisoner being put to death, and the distinctive narrative of a paranoid writer with reflections on a biscuit’s role in the world.
